Did you know that the physician, Bernardino Ramazzini, was born today in 1633? One of his philosophies was that it was better to prevent people from getting sick, than to try to cure a patient after they fell ill. Bernardino Ramazzini studied 50 different occupations (jobs) and the health hazards these workers faced such as exposure to chemicals or other materials, repetitive motions, or having to stay in odd postures for long periods of time. He encouraged physicians to ask about their patient’s occupations and to see if that could be the source of their illness. Because of this, Bernadino Ramazzini is often called “the father of occupational medicine”.
We hope that you think of way to have a healthy day today. Remember to think kind thoughts, use kind words, and do kind things. We Love You.
Bernardino Ramazzini also advocated for using cinchona bark to treat malaria. Cinchona bark has high concentrations of quinine, which does help to treat malaria.
