Did you know that Buzz Aldrin was born today in 1930? He is an American engineer and astronaut. Before becoming an astronaut, Buzz served as a jet fighter pilot in the United States Air Force. He wanted to be an astronaut, but his first application was rejected because he had never been a test pilot. He tried again and was accepted. On July 21,1969 he became the second person to walk on the face of the Moon.
We hope that you have an enthusiastic day at school. Remember to think kind thoughts, use kind words, and do kind things. We Love You.
Buzz Aldrin’s full name is Edwin Eugene Aldrin. He got the nickname “Buzz” because his siblings mispronounced the word ‘brother’ as ‘buzzer’. This was shortened to ‘buzz’.
Buzz Aldrin earned a Doctor of Science degree in Astronautics. His thesis was on “Line-of-sight guidance techniques for manned orbital rendezvous”. The dedication said, “In the hopes that this work may in some way contribute to their exploration of space, this is dedicated to the crew members of this country’s present and future manned space programs. If only I could join them in their exciting endeavors!”
Even today Buzz Aldrin continues to be involved and interested with space exploration and the missions to Mars.
