Did you know that a significant event leading to the American Revolution happened in Boston, on December 16, 1773? At the time the American Colonists had concerns that they were not being treated fairly by Great Britain; for example, there were fees and taxes that only applied to the colonies. One of the items unfairly taxed was tea. The colonists protested the taxes, eventually this led to the “Boston Tea Party”. 30-130 men in disguises boarded the ships carrying the tea and threw 342 chests of tea overboard (it took them 3 hours).

We hope that you have a historic day at school. Remember to think kind thoughts, use kind words, and do kind things. We Love You.

Bonus Fact: Initially the incident was known as “the Destruction of the Tea in Boston”.  The term “Boston Tea Party” did not appear in print until 1834.
