Did you know that in 1876, the Transcontinental Express train made a trip from New York City to San Francisco on the transcontinental railroad in 83 hours and 39 minutes (that’s about 3 ½ days)? ‘Transcontinental’ means ‘across the continent’. Before the transcontinental railroad, a trip from one side of the United States to the other would take months travelling over the land or weeks if you took a ship all the way around South America. Today it takes about 45 hours to drive straight and only 6 hours to fly from New York to San Francisco!
We hope that you have a fantastic day at school. Remember to think kind thoughts, use kind words, and do kind things. We Love You!
