Did you know that in 1790, Rhode Island was the last of the original colonies to approve the United States Constitution?  After approving the Constitution, Rhode Island became the 13th state.  Rhode Island is the smallest state in the United States of America, but it has the longest name:  “State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations”.  It is also known as “The Ocean State” because of all the beaches by the ocean.  The capital of Rhode Island is the city of Providence.  The state motto, or saying, is “Hope”.

We hope you have a wonderful day at school.  Remember to think kind thoughts, use kind words, and do kind things.  We Love You.

Bonus Fact: The state bird is the Rhode Island Red Chicken.
