Did you know that Caroline Lucretia Herschel was born today in 1750?  Caroline Herschel was an astronomer.  She worked with her brother, William Herschel, another famous astronomer, but also made many discoveries on her own.  She discovered 11 nebulae and 8 comets, one of which was named after her ‘35P/Herschel-Rigollet’.  She helped to update and correct a catalog of stars and later created a catalogue of nebulae.  Caroline Herschel was one of the first women to receive a salary for her scientific work and achievements.   She was also awarded Gold Medals from the British Royal Astronomical Society as well as from the King of Prussia.

We hope that you have an astronomically good day at school.  Remember to think kind thoughts, use kind words, and do kind things.  We Love You.
