So, you want to know why and how food rots?  When something is rotten it may look, smell, or taste bad (it’s a way to warn us not to eat something that might be bad for us).

Rotting is a natural process.  Once food is picked from the plant it’s grown from, it starts to ‘die’ and fall apart.  Microorganisms such as bacteria, fungus, and mold land on the food and start to digest and break down the food for their own use.  This process changes the color, smell, and look of food as it ‘rots’.  Moisture and warmer temperatures speed up the process.  That’s why we use refrigerators to help keep our food from spoiling.

We hope that you have an awesome day.  Remember to be kind.  We Love You.

P.S. Your little pumpkin has had a pretty long life, but I think it might be time for us to say goodbye.
