Did you know that your tongue starts at the back of your mouth, before the beginning of your throat.  You use your tongue to taste the food you eat, to make the different sounds you need to speak, and your tongue also helps to clean your teeth.  Animals use their tongues to catch their food, to clean their fur, or to cool off.  The average length of an adult human tongue is about 4 inches, which is pretty small compared to our bodies.  Some woodpeckers have tongues that are 6.7 inches when their body is only 6.5 inches long!

We hope that you have a wonderful day at school.  Remember to be kind and helpful!  We Love You.
