Did you know that Antoine Henri Becquerel was born today in 1852?  Henri was a French physicist and one of the scientists who discovered radioactivity.  He did not start out studying or looking for radioactivity.  He observed and noticed presence of ‘invisible rays’ while performing another experiment.  Curious, he created more experiments and discovered that the elements uranium and thorium release radiation.

For his work and discovery he shared the Nobel Prize with Marie Curie and Pierre Curie in 1903.  The measurement used to describe levels of radioactivity is named after him; it is called a ‘bequerel’ or Bq for short.

We hope that you have a day filled with unexpected discoveries.  Remember to be kind and to use kind words.  We Love You.
